He Is Holy. Therefore You Are To Be Holy.

“But Joshua said to the people, ‘You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will NOT forgive your transgressions nor your sins, IF you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good.”
Joshua 24:19-20

We cannot serve God and serve foreign gods of this world at the same time Josh says to the people. Paul warned the same to the church at Corinth when he said: “Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord….For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep (died).” 1 Corinthians 11

Serving the Lord is serious business, let us not be like those in the book of Judges after Joshua passed away, claimed the name but with their lives denied Him. Or like those in Corinth who claimed to serve the name of Jesus and yet live like devils during the week. Oh may God have mercy on us if we have neglected the obligation of Holy living! May we repent so He doesn’t turn on us as Joshua and Paul warned. 

“Heavenly Father thank you for the incredible privilege and honor it is to be called to serve you. Forgive our shortcomings, selfishness, and unholy conduct. Cleanse our hands, wash our feet, and allow us the delight in serving you. If we have exalted ourselves above you, please forgive us. Oh most Holy One, grant us the continued presence of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus Holy Name, Amen.”
